TANKSGIVIN  2004

November 13 is Tanksgivin at the shop.  We will be starting at 8:00 AM and finishing that afternoon.  The cost is $30 and for that you'll get a $40 Dreadnaught.  Put it together, paint it, and in the afternoon, after lunch, we will have the Dreadnaught Arena.  The winner will get a $30 boxed regiment.

Keep your Dread, or, sell it on Ebay for store credit.  The last time we did this, Brian won, and he is talking much trash!

Without a doubt, this was a Tanksgivin to remember!  We started at 8AM and finished the last Dreadnaught off at 3PM.  Russell, Neff, Bannon, Ford, Bradford, and myself took to the assemble line, and after much thought, Russell decided to make another Space Wolf Dread.  Neff turned toward the Dark Angels, while Bradford decided to go with a Grey Knights model.  Ford went with the Generic Camo Look, going back to the Old School, and Bannon went with the Black Templar Dread.  I decided to make the purity model, and went with the Macragge design, UltraMarines!

Assemble took the better part of the day, and much trash talking was happening during this workfest.  Russell was bloated with pride, having won the prior Dread Arena, and was making predictions of his future winning ways!  With evil eyes directed toward him, we worked, silently for a while, then hunger noises began to evolve, and we broke for lunch.

Burgers inhaled, decals applied, and the finishing touches made, we set up the gameboard, and a few spectators began to arrive.  The rules were set down, and the newest twist was added, the Attack and Repair cards.  Each player started with 2, and earned more as they destroyed Plasma canisters around the battlefield.  Movement was simultaneous, with each player marking the direction of movement with a concealed scatter die.  This led to many side and rear shots, and added lots of smiles to the event!

Bannon was the first to go, and it was due to his folks coming back for the third time to pry him away.  He, in his haste, also forgot to make pecuniary recompense for his participation, a factor that should be rectified in the near future.  Ford was the next to fold, and then I took aim at Bradford's wounded Knight.  I had 3 cards that allowed extra Lascannon shots, and along with my normal lascannon, I thought, to my downfall, that that should be sufficient to take him OUT!  The Emperor smiled on the Silver Bullets, but not on the Blue beast, and after the smoke cleared, the Knight was still standing.  Needless to say, the Blue Beast, having spent his portion of methodical miscalculations, was the next to fall.

Bradford was the next to go, going belly up to Russell's onslaught of fire.  It came down to Neff and Russell, with Neff giving chase to the Cowardly Space Wolf Drerad, who decided that discretion was the better part of Victory.  Russell's tactic paid dividends, and once again, he is the King of TanksGivin!
